A little about Matt Hill and his life
I was two weeks old when I attended my first concert.
I was the baby that was passed around by all the sweet little ladies at church.
My family had a singing group called The Hill Family.
My parents are Rev. Jerry and Sonia Hill.
Being the son of a preacher man, you have to try to live up to everyone's expectations.
You know the one that says the preacher's kids are the worst!
There were times when I strayed away for a while, and dabbled in the things of the world.
All the while, I knew where I was supposed to be.
Now, I look back and see how God kept his hand on me through a lot of crazy times.
Most of all, I'm glad he was still waiting for me.
I started singing at the age of two.
I can remember as a teenager, feeling the anointing of the Holy Ghost for the first time.
It changed my life completely. Singing was no longer just a fun thing to do, but a sincere ministry.
I am in my twenties now, and haven't stopped singing yet.
I found that singing became an escape from the mundane world.
It is a way of pouring out my soul and sharing a story at the same time.
Singing was a gift straight from God. I'm so thankful that God chose me to do his work.
I competed in the State Teen Talent in 1998, and won first place for the male vocalists, percussion, strings plucked, and small ensemble.
I then went on to get second place in male vocalists at General Assembly.
After singing in a trio for two years, called Generation at the age of nineteen I started singing with The Telestials.
The Telestials is a Southern Gospel group out of Nashville, Tennessee.
While I was with them, I sang lead on songs that charted number one on Solid Gospel.
Songs like: "He was Thinking of Me", " One Day", "Jesus Be a Fence", "That's why I Come to Church", and "God Knows".
I have traveled all over the United States and I have seen many cool places.
I have also met a lot of nice people. I'm thankful for that experience.
I was with them for a little over six years.
November eighth, of 2003, God joined my wife Misty and I together.
We were married a little over a year when in December of 2004, two weeks before Christmas, Misty was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Hodgkin's is a type of cancer. It was in stage four, the highest stage it could be in.
I found it difficult to find the great faith I thought I had when the doctors used words like unfavorable.
Together, we found the faith.
God put us in one of the best hospitals in the world, St. Jude.
It is a miracle in itself, seeing that my wife was over the age limit.
After extensive treatment, the cancer was gone only to return nine months later.
With a lot of prayer, faith, and good doctors the cancer is gone again.
It was during this time of trial I realized how important the time we have is.
I decided to leave the Telestials in January of 2007, to go out on my own.
I feel this is what God has been preparing me to do for a long time.
I want to always be in center of God's will because that is where we can minister the best.
It is a step of faith and faith is what it's all about.
Please pray for Matt Hill Ministries as we try to win the lost and touch people's lives.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel,
but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
